Here's our host, explaining how the islands are built. Apparently, this people adopted this way of life after being chased of their land by other fierce, aggresive groups. It also seems that the original Uros split, and part of them went to Bolivia and founded Oruro
These are "Kanchis", small fises that are a food source for the Uros.
And here's dry fish they prepare and keep for bad times. In general, they don't have trouble getting fresh fish, but as for water, unfortunately now they have to bring it from town, since the lake water is polluted.
