Funerary towers of Sillustani

This is the archeological park of Sillustani, with Inka and pre-Inka funerary towers

An Inka funerary tower: it can be recognized because of the carefully adjusted stones

A pre-Inka tower, with uncarved stones joined by mortar. All towers (Inka and Pre-Inka) have doors looking to the East: they beleived that the rising sun wold guide the souls to the world of the spirits.

A view of lake Umayo. Those strips of land going into the lake are cultivated. It is a very cold area, but in this way, during winter, they prevent the plants from chilling thanks to the humidity of the lake.
